Generator Dispatch Strategy

Bax edited this page Jul 15, 2025 · 1 revision

MiGRIDS Lite only employs naive load sharing between generators. The selection of generators to be run depends on the spinning reserve capacity limits along with storage support, if time shifting is used.

The load between generators is determined by their individual nameplate capacity, powerhouse total capacity, and the load needed to be met. The amount of load on a generator is determined by the ratio of its nameplate capacity divided by the powerhouse total capacity. For example, if the load is 150 kW, and the powerhouse has a 100 kW and a 120 kW generator for a total of 220 kW, the smaller generator gets 100/220 or 0.45 or 45% of the load. The smaller generator will provide 68.2 kW. The larger generator gets the remaining 65% at 81.8 kW.
