Description
Accessibility Plugin React feature-release program
Parent issue for the attached Master Engineering Plan (20 October 2026). This is an enhancement roadmap for the existing ccessibility-plugin-react package, not permission to rebuild or publish blindly.
Complete capability coverage
The milestone children cover every plan capability: W-01 launcher/close/resize/position/reset; W-02 locale/search; W-03 eight editable profiles; W-04 text scale; W-05 letter/word/paragraph spacing; W-06 line height; W-07 alignment; W-08 contrast/light/dark/invert; W-09 link highlighting; W-10 CSS/WAAPI/media motion controls; W-11 safe decorative-image handling; W-12 fonts/fallbacks; W-13 cursor/mask/guide; W-14 authored-description tooltips; W-15 headings/landmarks; W-16 saturation/grayscale; W-17 read-aloud; W-18 voice navigation; W-19 dictionary; W-20 smart contrast; W-21 full-screen/oversized controls; W-22 statement link; W-23 menu customization; W-24 opt-in events; W-25 host-content translation adapter; W-26 focus enhancement; W-27 custom presets; W-28 reading mode; W-29 shortcut help; W-30 diagnostics; W-31 temporary/session/no-storage mode; W-32 import/export.
Non-negotiable guardrails
- M0 audits the actual repository, published package, API, tests, exports, CSS, storage and license before coding; proposed interfaces are not current behavior.
- Preserve existing imports/props/hooks/CSS/storage contracts. Breaking changes require an intentional major-version migration.
- Core owns state, persistence and effect lifetimes. Effects are scoped, idempotent and reversible on disable/reset/unmount/remount; widget internals are excluded from host filters.
- Respect zoom, forced colors, reduced motion, screen readers, host focus order, forms, CAPTCHA, charts, media, portals, Shadow DOM and cross-origin limits.
- No network, telemetry, microphone, recordings, transcript storage, remote dictionary/translation/AI, or automatic compliance claim by default.
- Native controls, visible focus, correct state/value semantics, non-modal behavior unless background is truly inert, RTL, safe areas and approximately 44px targets are required.
- Test packed consumers and distinguish environment failures from product failures. Do not publish/tag/merge release branches or enable remote integrations without owner authorization.
Gates
M0 is a blocking evidence gate. M1 is safe core/UI/state. M2 is the first stable visual feature release. M3 is reading/profiles/localization. M4 is opt-in advanced/research work. M5 is launch evidence and a release proposal only; publication is separately authorized.
Every child must record branch/PR, existing behavior, changed API/files, exact tests/results, browser/AT evidence, limitations, performance/bundle impact, security/privacy impact, breaking changes and owner decisions. No invented test counts or support claims.
Existing related trackers #6, #7, #8, #10, #11, #12, #13, #14 and #15 are retained and nested where relevant rather than silently closed or duplicated.
