fix: validate complete packaged plugin resources - #443
Conversation
Validation of the implementation in The complete current package validates as a consumer would run it. Deliberately linked resources, manifestless packages, incomplete skills and truncated discovery output refuse; explicit agent selections exclude unselected documents, literal backslashes survive parity checks, and supported MCP names retain their identity in the catalogue. Independent review found two additional omissions within this scope, now covered by regressions and fixed. This PR implements #437, #438, #439, #440, #441 and #442. They will be closed after the merged package behavior is read back. |
Blocker: review-request coordination is unavailable because the GitHub REST API quota is exhausted. The required atomic review-lock helper returned UNKNOWN on #207 at 22:47 UTC; no review request was posted and no gate was waived. CI is also still settling at Implementation, regression coverage, independent read-only review and local consumer evaluation are complete. This PR remains a draft, and its related issues remain open. Resume by rebinding the current head and base, completing CI, acquiring the review lock, obtaining a substantive current-head review and merging with the exact head pin. No polling loop or background watcher is running. |

📝 WalkthroughWalkthroughThe manifest validator now checks package inventories, canonical manifests, and packaged resources, including plugin skills, agents, and MCP configuration. Marketplace comparisons use captured JSON fields, and catalogue parsing accepts nonempty inline-code tokens. New package-discovery tests cover valid and invalid fixtures, and CI runs the test script. Documentation and existing self-tests reflect the updated validation rules. Security Architecture ReviewSecurity architecture risk: 🔵 Low · up to The changes strengthen package validation without identifying a new security exposure. The new discovery tests run against temporary fixtures with read-only repository permissions. Remaining uncertainty concerns whether installation and consumer behavior fully match the stricter validation rules. Retained concerns Security review detailsSecurity Blast Radius

A rejected fixture passed on any error line, so a fixture refused for an unrelated reason still counted as covering its boundary. Each one now names the diagnostic it must produce, and a rejection that names none fails. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

Why
The package check can approve resources outside the plugin, overlook incomplete packages, and reject valid consumer selections. A successful check can therefore disagree with what an assistant can actually load.
What
Validate complete packaged resources and preserve the names and selections declared for consumers. Ambiguous or incomplete packages fail before they can be offered for installation.
