Summary
Storm aliases the
logservice toIlluminate\Log\Logger, but the service is aLogManager, and Laravel aliases it toLogManager. With noLogManageralias,app(LogManager::class)tries to build a newLogManagerand fails on its untyped$appparameter. Laravel'sHandleExceptions::handleDeprecationError()resolves the logger that way and swallows the exception, so a Winter application never logs a PHP deprecation, whateverlogging.deprecationssays. The alias now namesLogManager, as Laravel's does. The alias was copied from Laravel 5.5, where the service was a
Writer, and becameLoggerin b6ebe0d during the Laravel 6 upgrade, but the service has been aLogManagersince Laravel 5.6. October CMS made the same fix in octobercms/library@06fa70af.Testing
testLogManagerResolvesToTheLogServiceintests/Foundation/CoreContainerAliasesTest.phpfails without the change. The full suite passes on PHP 8.5.
