A lot of my work is on software that is already in production and has to stay that way: large refactorings, server and database migrations, replacing old applications without taking them offline. I also build greenfield projects, which is where most of my Elixir work has gone so far.
I have been writing software for more than ten years. Seven of them were spent on a single production platform, three of those leading a backend team of five. My background is mostly backend, but I work across the stack now.
Right now I build with Elixir, Phoenix, LiveView and Ash. Before that Java and Spring, TypeScript, Angular and React, and I still work in all of them. On modernisation projects that usually turns out to be the deciding factor, because I need to be able to understand a system before I can replace it.
Most of my open-source work lands upstream rather than here, so the forks on this profile are where those changes came from:
- ash_phoenix — actor, scope and tenant propagation into nested forms
- ash_postgres — bulk-upsert identity correlation on the MERGE path; resource generator support for many-to-many, views and no-PK tables
- ash_authentication — remember-me token generation
- ash, cinder, introspex, edtf_ex — smaller fixes and features
- Replacing a Java/Angular archival and publication system with Elixir/Phoenix LiveView
- A course and participant management platform, in production since 2018
