The skill set was arbitrary

sorting-downloads and clearing-desktop were the same skill with a different folder hardcoded into each. That is what made the set feel random, and it left no answer to the obvious question: why can it tidy the Desktop but not the folder I actually care about?

They are now organizing-folders, which takes any path. Downloads and Desktop are just the common cases.

The location-specific judgment is kept, not lost:

Location What "organized" means there
Downloads Finished business. Installers older than 90 days, browser-numbered duplicates.
Desktop Live work. Nothing touched in 7 days moves. Every item over 1 GB named individually.
Documents Group by project, not by file type.
Any folder Ask what organized means before proposing.
Inside a cloud drive Check for zero-byte placeholders first; acting on them destroys content.

organizing-obsidian-vault is now organizing-notes for the same reason. It always worked on any folder of markdown; the name advertised one app and under-sold it.

Three skills, one per category, each covering its whole domain.

Site

  • GitHub link is a glass pill with the GitHub mark. A solid accent fill made it read as the page's primary action, competing with Install.
  • Fixed a shape-system inconsistency. The nav shell, links, brand pill, and tabs were all fully round; buttons were 10px rectangles. Everything clickable is a pill now, content surfaces stay 12-14px, code surfaces 10px.
  • Rotator notes that Downloads and Desktop are one skill pointed at different folders.

Also

Content in the hero scenes was furnished from a developer's machine (invoice.pdf, css-tricks.com, a note tagged #q3). The people with three thousand bookmarks are mostly not developers. It is now a banana bread recipe saved twice from two URLs for the same page, a duplicated boarding pass, a printer driver nobody has opened since installing it, and two competing grocery lists.

109 tests green.

The hero showed generic paper cards, which read as "files" and hid the
actual pitch. Breadth is the product: the same habit applied to browsers,
downloads, desktops, and notes.

The stage now rotates through four scenes, one per skill, each drawn in
its own vocabulary. Bookmarks show the same page saved twice and a dead
link collapsing into topic folders. Downloads show byte-identical PDFs
and a stale installer sorting by kind. Desktop shows screenshots and a
six gigabyte leftover filed by age. Notes show stubs and orphans
gathering under real tags.

Tabs double as manual control and as a plain statement of what is
covered. Rotation stops on hover, on focus, and when the tab is hidden,
so it never advances out from under someone reading it.

Fixes a class-name collision found while testing: the rotator's rows
reused .row, which the coverage table already defines as a grid, so the
folder counts were laid out wrong. They are .frow now.
The scenes were furnished from a developer's machine: Python docs,
css-tricks, invoice.pdf, export-2025.zip, a meeting note tagged #q3.
Nobody outside this trade recognises their own mess in that, and the
people with three thousand bookmarks are mostly not developers.

Replaced throughout. A banana bread recipe saved twice from two URLs for
the same page, flights to Lisbon, a dead link to a coat sale, a duplicated
boarding pass, a printer driver nobody has opened since installing it, a
six gigabyte birthday video on the desktop, and two competing grocery
lists. They sort into Recipes, Travel, Photos, and #home.
A solid accent fill made the GitHub link read as the page's primary
action, competing with Install. It is a destination, not the thing we
want people to do first, so it now carries the same glass treatment as
the rest of the navigation, plus the GitHub mark for recognition.

the Desktop but not the folder I actually care about.

They are now organizing-folders, which takes any path. Downloads and the
Desktop are just the common cases. The location-specific judgment is
kept, not lost, as a section on what "organized" means in each place:
Downloads is finished business full of installers and browser-numbered
duplicates, the Desktop is live work that must not be touched inside a
week, Documents wants grouping by project rather than by file type, and
anything inside a cloud drive has to be checked for placeholder files
first.
