I see that the text object inspector toolbar takes space and is not essential
Is it better to hide it or make an option to switch it?

So your suggestion is to just drop the text?

What would you say to three modes instead: "Classic", "Classic without captions", and a new one, "Build mode only". Switched from a new "Style" button that opens a popup with the three of them.

"Build mode only" would be just the build mode combobox, plus a small icon to open Project Options - so: [small "style" button] [small "project options" button] | Build mode: [combobox]
