Wahl Aerzte Rechnungs Refundierungs Analyse Österreich Late 2024 to Early 2025

This repository is not organized in a rigorous way, because no fruther research is planned.
However, I can give you an overview:
Data from all relevant Parlamentarische Anfragen was downloaded (for archival reasons) into the folder raw_data. Ultimately, I only used data from the two Anfragen mentioned above, which have there own folders in raw_data (2024_Anfrage and 2025_Anfrage). Data from the 2024 Anfrage was not exported well and only available in a PDF format. This required lengthy postprocessing. During my research a new Anfrage was answered with more easily available (and better quality) data in an excel format.
The cleaned data can be found in data. In csv is the cleaned data from both 2024_Anfrage and 2025_Anfrage. 2024_Anfrage required extensive post-processing and is split in multiple files based on the original pdfs. 2025_Anfrage also needed cleaning as some numbers were obviously wrong (as detailed in the thesis). Data from 2025_Anfrage is found in the manually_extracted folder. All other data is in the extras folder, which also exists for archival reasons.
Data from Beilage 16 (BVAEB) from the 2024_Anfrage was not used and not converted to csv, but is more easily available in data/xlsx.
All figures used in the thesis can be found in figures. Scripts to generate them are in the folder visualize.
I used the Cursor IDE with Composer to generate much of the code with manual bug fixing etc.
Run scripts from this repo with pipenv (creating a new python venv and installing pip packages). Ask AI how to do it correctly.
