Debezium emits a null-value tombstone alongside pruning deletes, and the Filter SMT passes tombstones through (null.handling.mode defaults to keep). An empty value made json.Unmarshal fail, and the retrying consumer would then retry it for ~3.5 days, stalling the partition. Skip empty values.
