  • The Aurelian Empire elite discuss growing external threats and a rising cult in the city.
  • Concern over moral corruption exists with rivals: elite indulging in incest, orgies, and homosexuality.
  • The empire has just condemned a brutal leader named Caelar to death as a dictator who took over the city, but many still revere him.
  • Cassian, a slave master, is frustrated by the contempt of rival cities for the brutal crucifixions of a runaway gladiator's army.

Dialogue:
Cassian: “That is outrageous. We have rules!”
Visuals: Wide shot of palace, opulent but cold; close-ups on elite faces whispering unease.

Scene 2 – Cassian’s Cruel Plan

Location: Slave Quarters – Night

  • Drunk from an orgy, Cassian resents being scorned for moral cruelty.
  • Reviews slave records; identifies a mother and son unaware of their relation.
  • Arranges a “privilege” for them to conceive a child, secretly mocking them.

Location: Cult Hideout / Temple

  • Cult learns of Sael’s conception and are perplexed who the father would be in Aurelian society
  • they consider Sael a fatherless conception
  • They confront Sael’s parents, who consent to entrust Sael to the cult.
  • Sael becomes a symbol of the creators purity and hope against elite cruelty

Visuals: Close-ups of parents’ faces, cult leaders, and Sael’s innocent gaze.
Symbolism: Life born of evil becomes a symbol of good.


Scene 5 – Sael’s Departure

Location: The Avarim outskirts

  • Cult arranges Sael’s upbringing away from Aurelian influence.
  • Another religious sect - the Avarim - live on the outskirts of the city agree to give refuge
  • Parents watch him depart, hopeful yet fearful.

Scene 6 – Cassian’s Frustration

Scene 14 – Kings’ Gifts and Validation

Location: Sael’s camp

Location: Senate / City Square

  • Punishment of Sael has not had popular effect like Caelars death; showing as weakness
  • Ruling elite are tired of executing people; want a king for all instead
  • Cassian proposes crucifying Sael as a king to appease gods and restore order.

Visuals: Wide shots of Senate; Cassian pleased with framing.
Symbolism: Political expediency vs. moral authority.


Scene 20 – Cult and Sael Decide
