VellichorOS runs as a set of loosely coupled microservices behind a single API gateway, with each domain — inventory, auctions, authentication, reporting — deployed independently so one piece can burn down without taking the whole shop offline. The ISBN ingestion pipeline is event-driven, built on a Kafka queue that buffers scan bursts during high-volume intake sessions. Core transaction data lives in MongoDB because the document model maps cleanly onto the chaotic, deeply nested reality of rare book metadata. Session state and bid caching are handled by Redis, which also serves as the long-term storage layer for auction history because it is fast and I trust it.
