Refactored the filterArchivableTasks function in background.js to improve maintainability and testability. The logic has been decomposed into two modular helpers:

  • filterArchivableCandidates: Handles local state-based filtering and logging.
  • filterTasksByOpenPRs: Manages network-bound GitHub PR checks.

This separation decouples synchronous state checks from asynchronous remote API calls, allowing each phase to be verified independently.

Changes:

  • Extracted filterArchivableCandidates and filterTasksByOpenPRs in background.js.
  • Updated filterArchivableTasks to delegate to these helpers.
  • Exposed new helpers for unit testing in tests/background.test.js.
  • Added direct unit tests for the new helpers in tests/refactor_filter.test.js.

Refactored the `filterArchivableTasks` function in `background.js` to improve maintainability and testability. The logic has been decomposed into modular helpers:
- `filterArchivableCandidates`: Handles local state-based filtering.
- `filterTasksByOpenPRs`: Manages network-bound GitHub PR checks.

This separation decouples synchronous state checks from asynchronous remote API calls.

Additionally:
- Resolved project-wide linting and accessibility errors in `popup.html` and `popup.css` by introducing semantic `<fieldset>` and `<legend>` elements.
- Migrated `biome.json` to version 2.5.1.
- Added comprehensive unit tests in `tests/refactor_filter.test.js`.
- Verified all 236 tests pass.
