Hi, I'm Mersaid 👋

Software engineer transitioning from elite athletics. Building backends for the world I lived inside.

About me

Member of Kazakhstan's national short-track speed skating team (15 years, still active). Olympic Winter Games 2018 — 6th place. World Cup bronzes Montreal 2023 and Milan 2025. Asian Winter Games 2025 — gold and silver. Trained, lived, and competed across four continents.

Self-taught backend developer via Coursera (Meta Backend Developer Professional Certificate) and late evenings between training blocks. Now writing code with the same discipline I bring to the ice every day.

What I'm building

🌌 Aurora — a multi-source athletic data hub with provider-priority deduplication and lactate-driven training analysis.

Django + PostgreSQL backend, with GDPR-grade soft-delete with custom JWT rule, Fernet-encrypted OAuth tokens, IDOR-404 protected APIs. Designed for the platform I wish existed during my own training years.
