Nec file compatability?

Apologies for the dumb question.

I tried to use onec.exe as a replacement for the existing NEC2/MP engine from Athan found in nikiml's nec.opt script in windows; however didnt have much luck.

After testing the nec files from here and from digitalhome directly with the engine, I think the issue is with parsing the nec files. NEC2/MP was able to start sample NECs from here and from digitalhome. But ONEC gave errors on NEC files from digitalhome

Sorry, just saw this now, for some reason I didn't get a ping in email.

I'm looking at the NEC2/MP code now. It appears it works as a drop-in for 4nec2, so my format should be the same/similar.

Can you send me some of the .nec files that are giving you issues? Parsing is generally something I can knock out pretty quickly.

No worries, I'm busy with other stuff too. Only had time to try a quick speedtest and didn't spend time troubleshooting until now.

Tried different antennas types steathhawk, biquad, yagi,, grey hoverman. Seems to be an issue with Grey Hoverman, either nikiml's or the new 2020 ones. Best one to check with is the 24 in widebeam Grey Hoverman from 2020 as that one has all the issues I was able to find so far.

Sending that file directly to opennec gets 3 issues:

1. error on lines 'a1+feed-_G3' and '_G3+a3+n_top_dy- n_b_taper/2'. More with one of the x1 GreyHovermans, but the lines are similar so probably same issue
2. error with min() max() functions
3. segment error. Not sure if because of previous errors causing it to happen downstream. necopt with 4nec is able to eval and opt ok

Also noticed a new dependency in v2.0.0 that wasn't there in 1.3.7, so needed to copy libwinpthread-1 over. The test computer is running an older version of windows, so that might just be a self inflicted thing.

Perfect, that file is a really great one in generally, I'm going to add it to the examples folder as it's complex.

I added max and min, but I have a question back to you: does 4nec2 allow more than two parameters in these functions? Do you mind testing that for me? Just add a card like:

SY abcd=max(1,2,3)

I added different versions of max to handle this, max2, max3 etc., but if 4nec2 doesn't allow that anyway I can unwire that and make the code simpler.

That got me to the next error. It turns out it doesn’t allow variables with leading underscores! sigh. All fixed!

I have some other reports to work through as well, but this file parses OK now and these fixes will be part of 2.0.1.

Ok pappy, I was sent some documentation on the formats and added max, min and fix functions, as well as asin/acos/atan, which people said they wanted. Give 2.1.0 a whirl!
