Why

Apple Silicon users running uv add lance-graph or pip install lance-graph should download the latest prebuilt arm64 wheel without rebuilding locally from Rust source. This keeps the CI change minimal by following pylance’s existing Apple Silicon build process.

What changed

  • Reuse pylance’s native runner, Protobuf setup and Maturin action; publish the tested wheel alongside Linux releases.
  • Match CI test-data writers to Rust Lance 1.x and check disk-backed queries. Runtime requirements stay unchanged.

Validation

  • Local Python suite: 120 passed, 6 skipped. Rust-free wheel checks passed on Python 3.11 and 3.12.
  • Updated CI pending.

@jackye1995 @Xuanwo would love to see a new minor release 0.5.5 on PyPI with this update, so that apple silicon users can benefit. I'm planning on using LanceDB and lance-graph at an ODSC workshop next month, much appreciated if you could incorporate this, thanks!
