This project demonstrates network reconnaissance performed using the Nmap tool to identify open ports, running services, and potential security vulnerabilities on an authorized target system.
This task was completed as a part of my Vulnerability Assessment and Penetration Testing (VAPT) Internship at Cyart Technologies in February 2026.
The objective of this task was to perform network scanning on an authorized target machine using Nmap in order to detect open ports, running services, and assess the potential security risks associated with exposed network services.
- Nmap
- Python (python-nmap library)
- Windows Operating System
- Command Prompt
- Installed and configured Nmap and Npcap
- Performed TCP SYN Scan
- Conducted Service Version Detection
- Executed OS Detection Scan
- Automated scanning using Python script
- Identified open ports and running services
- Analyzed potential security risks
- Prepared structured Nmap scanning report
- Nmap Scan Reports (.txt)
- Python Automation Script
- Final Assessment Report (PDF)
- Scan Result Screenshots
Successfully performed network reconnaissance and identified open ports, active services, and potential security vulnerabilities on the target system using automated Nmap scanning techniques.
