  • This PR proposes to make fsspec/gcsfs as preferred backend for GCS instead of tensorflow.
  • FSSPEC/GCSFS is used across pytorch ecosystem as default client and its well supported by GCS.
  • GCSFS also supports recently added features like Rapid buckets
  • All changes are behind EPATH_PREFER_FSSPEC flag
