Draw your Layout
Before you can use the automatic drive functionality of JCS you need to draw and configure your Layout. The First step is to make a (schematic) drawing of your layout. The Second Step is to configure the layout objects and link them to physical track objects like Sensors and Turnouts.
Click in the Pencil Button to switch to edit mode. A raster of 40 x 40 pixel will appear. In the left part of the screen the Component palette will appear.
You can select a Track object in the palette and drag it to the right position on the Canvas. When you right click ona Component you have the option to rotate, delete and for some objects to configure Properties.
Each object is called a "Tile" the whole layout is build by adding Tiles on the Canvas. When a Tile is selected it will be highlighted in Yellow. When you Left click on a tile it will be selected. When you hold down the Left mouse button end drag you can move the Tile. When you move the tile to an already occupied position the Tile is highlighted in Red.
The last Tile Component selection is remembered. When you Left click on an empty position in the Canvas the last used Component is added again.
To link a Track component to a physical track object you first have to import the Accessories.
Right click on a turnout and select properties
A Turnout Selection Dialog will appear. Select the right turnout form the selection menu.
Click on the Save Button to use this configuration. Once a physical Turnout is select it will disappear from the List when you open the Turnout properties on a other Turnout as you can only assign one turnout to a Switch Tile.
When you choose the Command station it is assumed that you have updated the Feedback modules.
Right click on a on Sensor Component and choose Properties
The Sensor Properties Dialog will appear
Choose the right physical Sensor Id.
In case you do not exactly know the Sensor ID JCS has convenient feature screen to figure out the physical sensor ID. This is the Sensor Monitor Screen. You have to be connected with your Command Station to enable this screen.
On The Sensor monitor screen Sensor which are once activated are shown. In this way you can easily figure out te ID of the physical sensor by activating it by running a locomotive over it.
