The plugin combines everything in one install:

  • the display.dev MCP tools;
  • the display.dev skill;
  • Visualize Lite;
  • /display-dev:feedback;
  • the publish-guard and comment-note hooks.

Visualize Lite

Visualize Lite is a standalone skill in display-dev/visualize that anyone can install on their own:

npx skills add display-dev/visualize --skill visualize-lite
  • Size: about 130 files instead of about 800. It's generated from the full skill by Visualize's own sync script, so the two can't drift.
  • Design systems: it bundles the design-system index and the clean system. When you pick another system, it downloads that system's README.md, DESIGN.md, and tokens.css from display-dev/visualize at the matching release tag. If the download fails, it says which system it couldn't load and continues with its fallback.
  • The full visualize skill is unchanged.

What changes here

  • sources.lock pins skills/visualize-lite at display-dev/visualize 354698c, next to the display.dev skill. tools/sync.sh copies both as-is.
  • Version 0.12.0 everywhere CI checks. The manifest description and README list Visualize Lite, and the README's "runs and sends" table has a row for it.

Size

Files
0.11.1 (no Visualize) 29
This PR 156
Earlier attempt with full Visualize ~830 (validator timed out)

Checked

  • tools/sync.sh --check passes for both skills.
  • tests/hooks.sh passes, ShellCheck passes on tools/sync.sh, and the version literals match.
  • npx skills add display-dev/visualize --list finds both visualize and visualize-lite.
  • Visualize Lite's remote URL serves the design-system files at v0.8.0 (HTTP 200).

Visualize returns to the plugin. tools/sync.sh copies the pinned
display-dev/visualize commit (v0.8.1) and trims it so the plugin stays
small enough for directory validation: the design-system packages except
_template and clean, and the test files, are left out, and
design-systems/REMOTE.md points at the full catalog at the same commit.
Visualize 0.8.1 fetches a design system that is not bundled from there.
The plugin is 156 files.

Pin Visualize back to v0.8.0 (a84dc43). The upstream v0.8.1 change was
reverted: the fetch-from-REMOTE.md rule now lives only in this plugin's
trimmed copy. tools/sync.sh inserts it into skills/visualize/SKILL.md
after the paragraph that introduces design-systems/, and fails if that
paragraph moves upstream. The copy differs from Visualize v0.8.0 only in
that paragraph, REMOTE.md, and the files it leaves out.

Visualize Lite now exists as its own installable skill in
display-dev/visualize (skills/visualize-lite/, generated from the full skill,
about 130 files). The plugin pins that build at 354698c and copies it as-is,
like the display.dev skill; tools/sync.sh no longer trims or edits anything.
