A DeFi flash loan is a loan that can be borrowed without collateral and must be repaid within the same blockchain transaction. If the borrowed amount plus fees is not repaid, the blockchain automatically reverts the entire transaction.
This is called atomic execution. It ensures lenders face no default risk, but requires perfect execution from the borrower.
