Hi! I am David Cuevas Alba

👩‍💻 About Me

I am a Systems Engineer and Graduate Assistant in Robotics at Universidad de los Andes, currently pursuing my Master's in Systems and Computer Engineering (MISIS). I am deeply passionate about advancing the integration of robotics in society and bridging the technological gap in Latin America through cutting-edge AI solutions.

As a member and former leader of SinfonIA Uniandes, I helped lead our team to victory at the RoboCup@Home Social Standard Platform League 2024.

  • 🔭 Currently Focusing On: Embodied Agentic AI, Vision-Language-Action models (VLAs), and Action Chunking with Transformers (ACTs).
  • 📚 Research Interests: Social robotics, NLP (summarization, RAG), and Computer Vision (YOLO).
  • Hardware Experience: Unitree G1, SoftBank Robotics Pepper, NAO, and P3DX.

🔬 Research Lines & Development

  • Robotics: Designing intelligent behaviors for robots in social environments, utilizing ROS 1 and ROS 2 Jazzy for perception, STT, TTS, and autonomous navigation.
  • Mobile Interfaces: Developing native Android and WearOS applications to serve as control and monitoring interfaces for robotic systems, leveraging libraries like jros2 built directly on a Fast DDS C++ backend.
  • XR Development: Building experiences with Unity, OpenXR, Meta SDK, and C#.
