🚨 Severity: CRITICAL
πŸ’‘ Vulnerability: API token verification was vulnerable to timing attacks due to standard string comparison (credentials.credentials != API_TOKEN).
🎯 Impact: Attackers could potentially deduce the API token by analyzing the time it takes for the server to reject incorrect tokens, allowing them to bypass authentication.
πŸ”§ Fix: Replaced the standard equality check with secrets.compare_digest() for constant-time string comparison, effectively preventing timing-based attacks. Added a journal entry detailing the vulnerability and prevention method.
βœ… Verification: Verified that tests pass via python -m pytest tests/ and linters pass via ruff check mcp/ tests/.

PR created automatically by Jules for task 3563344684938009238 started by @dkdev179
