This research group aims to spread the Distributed and Embedded Artificial Intelligence approach.
We advocate the use of cognitive agents, computational entities capable of perceiving their environment and selecting actions to achieve specific goals. Beyond the typical characteristics such as autonomy, reactivity, proactivity, and social ability, it can also exhibit rationality when expected to act in ways that promote the achievement of its goals rather than prevent them.
Also, we have developed Enabling Technologies to facilitate the teaching and engineering of the approach, incorporating consolidated ethical practices through multidisciplinary pedagogical materials for undergraduate and graduate studies, and stimulating computational thinking through cognitive models.
