Summary

The UI interpreted DSL variable definitions using the command template's syntax. Definitions use dollar references even when the command uses angle references. Resolve literal and shell definitions with dollar syntax.

Verification

Regression tests and real terminal sessions cover literal and shell definitions under angle command syntax.

Local checks passed on Go 1.27.1. The CI workflow uses Go 1.26.3.

  • Added regression tests for the changed behavior
  • cheatmd --lint examples/ passes
  • Docs/wiki changes are not needed for this fix
