Summary

  • add one fixed-branch workflow that reconciles public OpenAPI changes and @chargebee/code-sample-generator releases
  • fetch and record one immutable chargebee/openapi commit for command generation
  • update the generator package to the exact latest published version
  • verify descriptor compatibility, deterministic generation, focused tests, type checking, licenses, and notices before opening a PR
  • stop Dependabot from creating a competing generator-package PR

Nothing is auto-merged. Generated command and dependency changes remain a human-reviewed pull request.

Rollout dependency

Keep this PR in draft until the next compatible @chargebee/code-sample-generator version after 1.0.2 is published. The current public package does not yet contain every descriptor required by the newest public specification.

The current test / codegen failure is expected and proves the gate is working. A clean CI install of 1.0.2 rejects these two required descriptors:

  • v2-pcv1/list_email_logs_for_a_customer
  • v2-pcv2/list_email_logs_for_a_customer

Do not bypass this check. After the reviewed descriptor and Release Please PRs publish the next package version, this branch should pin that exact version, regenerate, and become green.

Before the first automated run, add chargebee/cli to the existing Chargebee SDK Release Bot installation and grant the repository access to the chargebee organization secrets CB_SDK_BOT_APP_ID and CB_SDK_BOT_PEM_KEY. The workflow scopes its short-lived token to chargebee/cli with Contents and Pull requests write permissions.

Validation

  • deterministic online/offline command generation pinned to revision-scoped cache provenance
  • offline generation without --source-sha completed with network proxies disabled and matched the online output byte for byte
  • local spec overrides do not update canonical cache provenance
  • descriptor compatibility gate against a locally built version of the reviewed next package
  • 10 focused tests and TypeScript type checking with repository-pinned Bun 1.4.2
  • Actionlint 1.7.7 and git diff --check
  • branch is three commits ahead and zero commits behind main

Adds a workflow that reconciles immutable OpenAPI revisions with generator releases and opens a reviewable PR without auto-merging. The generator checks descriptor compatibility, verifies generated output, and records revision-scoped cache provenance. Dependabot ignores the generator package.

Walkthrough

The generator now pins OpenAPI inputs to a source commit and checks operation descriptor compatibility. A new workflow resolves spec and generator versions, regenerates commands, validates changes, and creates or updates a pull request.

Changes

OpenAPI Reconciliation

Layer / File(s) Summary
Pin spec inputs and cache
src/tools/generate.ts, .github/workflows/source-checks.yml
The generator supports a source SHA for default spec URLs and cached spec validation. It records the SHA after generation. Source-check comments describe the immutable spec revision.
Check operation descriptor compatibility
src/tools/audit-operation-ids.ts, src/tools/generate.ts, src/tests/unit/tools/audit-operation-ids.test.ts, src/tests/integration/generated-operation-names.test.ts
The generator clears operation IDs for non-subscription mappings and checks mapped IDs against installed descriptors. Tests cover missing descriptors and empty IDs.
Configure workflow and resolve inputs
.github/workflows/reconcile-openapi.yml, .github/dependabot.yml
The workflow supports OpenAPI and generator-release events and manual dispatch. It validates inputs and resolves spec and generator versions. Dependabot ignores generator-package updates.
Regenerate, validate, and open pull request
.github/workflows/reconcile-openapi.yml
The workflow installs the resolved generator, regenerates commands, runs checks, and rejects changes outside approved paths. If approved changes exist, it creates or updates a pull request.

Merge Risk: ⚪ Minimal · up to bdeb9

This adds an automated workflow that opens reviewable pull requests and does not auto-merge. No actionable merge-blocking risk is evident. Keep the PR in draft until a compatible generator version is published, as the author states.

- Line 77: Update the SOURCE_SHA resolution flow in generate so offline mode
never calls the network-backed resolveSourceSha(); use the cached source
revision when available, or require and validate --source-sha before any
request. Preserve the cached-spec path through loadSpec.
- Line 219: Track the source SHA associated with cached specs separately from
the generated-output marker, and use that cached provenance in the reuse check
involving `cached`, `--refresh`, and `SOURCE_SHA` instead of
`previousSourceSha`. Update the cached provenance only when the spec files are
fetched, not when `--spec-file` overrides generate outputs.
