Could you have a look at the conflicts? 😬

Quick question before we add another channel: how active is the Matrix room (recent members + message volume over the last few weeks)? With a small team I'd lean toward concentrating users in fewer places — GitHub Issues / Discussions for anything trackable, and one chat channel for the rest. Adding Matrix on top of IRC just splits traffic; I'd rather swap (drop IRC if Matrix is more active) than carry both. If neither has much activity right now, pointing this dialog at the GitHub issues page only might serve users best.

I'm open to other team suggestions — just my two cents.

The conflicts are fixed.

The matrix room is empty, I am alone, I did it recently. (I was alone too in the past in irc channel and now I see 10 people).

Why matrix room? it seems to be the standard in open source projects nowadays, and matrix has much improvements instead irc, I use it in my linux phone.

Why both, irc and matrix? The people can choice, not everybody use irc, and not everybody use matrix. The same as amule is for more than one platform (linux, macos...).

Why is good to see in dialog? because if the people doesnt know it, new users never will join, we need to put in somewhere the communication channels. This dialog is shown only one time, the first time amule runs.

Matrix is a much better and faster way for communcation instead github discussions, the messages doesnt dissapear if you are offline.

But if you guys decide it is bad idea, no problem, just close :)

Maybe we don't have to choose: it's possible to put a bridge in place, please see https://matrix.org/ecosystem/bridges/irc/
I never used Matrix, I was like wtf do they need my e-mail for to let me chat and why the novel sized terms and conditions? I've never seen anything similar on IRC. But I get that other people may prefer something else. To each his own, I guess.

My point is that it would be helpful only if the team is actually committed to giving support through these channels.

I prefer GitHub issues as official tracker.

Agreed, but live chat doesn't replace a bug tracker and synchronous communication can have its upsides. It's mostly useful to provide basic support to users or help them write a good issue report. (Also, the final part of the German translation from mifritscher landed thanks to a discussion on IRC regarding translations. He just asked if something was needed for German and provided updated catalogs). That's why I idle there but truth is, there's not much activity (yet?).

I think nowadays there is no possible the bridge with libera, see:
https://libera.chat/news/temporarily-disabling-the-matrix-bridge
https://libera.chat/news/matrix-bridge-disabled-retrospective
https://libera.chat/news/official-matrix-bridge-farewell

Github never can replace the benefits to chat directly between us, honestly I think it is very weird to chat inside github discussions. Matrix has a lot of benefits instead irc, we can upload images, videos, we can't loss conversations if we are offline...

I will keep open this PR some time, and if I see no activity in the matrix room, I will close it.
