Summary

All 8 open Dependabot alerts are apache-airflow CVEs that only affect airflow 3.x (>= 3.0.0):

Alert CVE Fixed in
#1 CVE-2025-62402 3.1.1
#2 CVE-2025-62503 3.1.1
#3 CVE-2025-66388 3.1.5
#4 CVE-2025-68438 3.1.6
#5 CVE-2026-24098 3.1.7
#6 CVE-2026-22922 3.1.7
#7 CVE-2025-68675 3.1.6
#8 CVE-2025-65995 3.1.5rc1

Why not upgrade to airflow 3.1.7+?

airflow 3.x requires fastapi<0.118.0 but this project uses fastapi>=0.128.4 — they are incompatible. Upgrading airflow 3.x would require downgrading FastAPI across the entire framework.

Fix

Pin apache-airflow>=2.8.0,<3.0.0 → resolves to 2.11.2 (latest stable 2.x, zero CVEs).

The data dependency group is optional and used for pipeline/DAG workloads. airflow 2.x is still actively maintained and fully functional for this use case.

Test plan

  • uv lock succeeds, resolves to apache-airflow==2.11.2
  • CI passes (airflow only in optional data group, not installed in CI)
  • Dependabot alerts auto-close after merge to default branch

All 8 CVEs (CVE-2025-62402, CVE-2025-62503, CVE-2025-66388,
CVE-2025-65995, CVE-2025-68438, CVE-2025-68675, CVE-2026-22922,
CVE-2026-24098) affect apache-airflow>=3.0.0 only.

airflow 3.x also conflicts with fastapi>=0.128.4 (requires <0.118.0).
Pin to >=2.8.0,<3.0.0 — resolves to 2.11.2 which is clean.
