App UX: blank 'Loading Reader…' bounce to login; extension install hidden #88

  • P1 /library: "Open your inbox" shows a blank "Loading Reader…" screen, then bounces to /login.
    • Fix: label the link as sign-in and redirect without the blank screen.
  • P1 /extension: signed-out visitors see only "Sign in first", which hides the install link for the main capture path.
    • Fix: show install instructions before sign-in.
  • Not covered: the signed-in app was not audited.

Source: the fleet app-interior UX audit, 2026-10-11. Screenshots are in the owner-local handoff folder ~/Library/Application Support/Fleet/Handoffs/2026-10-11-app-ux-audit/ux/<product>/.

Owner rules: dark everywhere; landing and app are one product (same name, palette, voice); one primary action per screen; real empty, loading and error states; no fake gamification or emoji noise. Taste-level changes need 2–3 rendered options for the owner. Clear bugs and copy fixes can ship directly through the release gate.

Completed source review — 2026-10-13

PR #89 is merged. The library has stable pending/guest states with explicit sign-in, and extension installation guidance is available before authentication. Source review and24 desktop/tablet/mobile browser checks passed; exact-main CI/validation/Workers Builds passed. The signed-in audit is explicitly outside this issue.
