Languages and scripts
In the following table, you will find the values that will be used for the @xml:lang attribute within the <div type="textpart"> elements of the SigiDoc editions. These values are the standard language subtags from the IANA Language Subtag Registry. You can find more details and the complete registry here.
Those indicated here are the uses of the @xml:lang attribute exclusively within the <div type="textpart"> element, which is a child of either <div type="edition" subtype="editorial"> or <div type="edition" subtype="diplomatic">. This attribute specifies the language of the text on the seal and must be assigned according to the codes provided in the table below.
It is crucial that the @xml:lang value corresponds to one of the language codes listed in the table, which provides the mappings between these codes and the names of the languages and scripts. These codes should be used accurately to ensure data consistency and precision. If the seal's text is in multiple languages or scripts, the @xml:lang value should reflect these combinations as indicated in the table.
On the other attributes of the <div type="textpart"> element see Textpart.
