This PR slightly strengthens the guidance in the vignette on using vectorized functions, noting potential differences of efficiency for alternative approaches. It also includes a more prominent note on vectorization in the README following user feedback. The aim is to avoid users who are experimenting getting confused when if-else statements don't work as expected
