Hi, I'm Rachel Legree πŸ‘‹

Product Manager focused on civic technology, government modernization, and AI for the public sector.

I've spent 15+ years working every side of the government technology relationship: as a municipal employee, as an enterprise account executive serving 10,000+ government customers, and as a platform builder. That vantage point shapes how I think about product β€” the best government tech is built with agencies, not just for them.

What I work on

  • Government procurement & financial systems β€” Led cloud migration of an $80M ARR platform serving LA County, State of Utah, UC Berkeley, and Lawrence Berkeley National Labs (Gordian/Fortive)
  • Legacy modernization β€” My framing: it's a trust problem, not a technical problem
  • AI for public sector β€” Applying tools like Claude and Whisper to automate and augment government workflows
  • Civic technology β€” Passionate about modular contracting, open standards, and human-centered design in government services

Tools I actually use

Category Tools
AI & Automation Claude, Whisper
Product Management JIRA, Confluence, Aha!, ProductBoard, Miro
Data & Analytics SQL, Tableau, Power BI
Design Figma
Compliance Frameworks FAR, DFARS, FedRAMP, FISMA, Section 508

What you'll find here

  • πŸ“„ PRDs and product artifacts β€” real product thinking, scrubbed of confidential details
  • πŸ” Public sector data explorations β€” analysis using open government data (USASpending, data.gov, Census)
  • πŸ› οΈ Civic tools and automations β€” small projects that solve real government workflow problems

Currently exploring

  • How AI changes the government procurement lifecycle
  • Modular contracting as a product strategy
  • Open data tooling for state and local agencies

"The gap between what government technology promises and what it delivers is a product problem. I work on closing it."
