Thanks for the suggestion.

Windows already allows routing this app's audio to a different output device:

Settings -> System -> Sound -> Volume mixer

After connecting a device, expand the entry named something like <device> A2DP SNK and choose the desired output device.

Is this what you mean, or are you asking for AudioPlaybackConnector2 to expose this setting directly in the app and remember it per Bluetooth device?

@N0ahTM That usually works for a lot of programs, however does not appear to work for this.

@piebandit, this should work on your machine as well. Once you connect your phone, an entry containing “A2DP Sink” should appear in the Windows Volume Mixer. There you can select the output device and adjust the volume independently. I tested this successfully on two different PCs.
I also looked into adding this setting directly to AudioPlaybackConnector2.
Unfortunately, Windows does not expose a supported public API on AudioPlaybackConnection for selecting the audio output device. The Microsoft API reference lists all available properties and methods, but there is no output-device property or setter:

Therefore, the output device currently has to be selected through the Windows Volume Mixer.

@N0ahTM I already tried this, it doesn't work. I've done this for other programs so I'm familiar with how it's done and know it works for those programs, however, specifically for this A2DP sink it does not seem to work.

The audio still only outputs through the default sound device.

Found an trick if you go in the registry under Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\MMDevices\Audio\Capture then you have to find the right device the name of the device can be found under properties and then delete the Key {9c119480-ddc2-4954-a150-5bd240d454ad},6 under properties now it will show up under sound settings and will work for example with Voicemeeter

As always, you should be careful when modifying or deleting anything in the registry directly.

When looking for your A2DP Sink device in the registry the name will be in the properties key

Delete the key: {9c119480-ddc2-4954-a150-5bd240d454ad},6

Now open Sound settings through Control Panel, Switch to the Recording Tab, you will now see the A2DP Sink for your device.

Right click the device and go to Properties, switch to the Listen tab and you can change the playback device on this tab. Changing it on the Audio Mixer still does not work for whatever reason. If you're using Voicemeeter or other similar software, you can set the virtual input to this device and the audio will come through the virtual input, just make sure to uncheck "Listen to this device" on this tab otherwise you will hear the audio from the device twice.

Update for 0.9.0: the troubleshooting guide now explicitly acknowledges that Windows can ignore Volume Mixer output selection for an A2DP sink. My earlier statement that this should work on every machine was too strong; the reports here show otherwise.

0.9.0 does not add an output-device selector, and this request remains open. AudioPlaybackConnection does not expose one, and registry modifications are not part of the app's supported setup.
