feat(stablecoins): phase 3 — the trade names the network and the transaction ID - #905
Closes#884: phase 3, the last one. Phase 1 was #894 and phase 2 #904, both merged.
Type
feat
What changes and why
A coin sent on another network than the one agreed can be lost, and in a dispute the transaction ID is the buyer's proof of the transfer. So when the trade's currency is a stablecoin (a catalogue entry with a peg), the step copy says both:
Step
Copy (en)
Active, buyer
Send it on {method}, to the address they shared in the chat: on another network it can be lost. Then paste the transaction ID in the chat (it is your proof in a dispute) and mark it below.
Active, seller
Share your {method} address in the chat above.
Payment sent, seller
The buyer marked the payment as sent. Before releasing, check that it reached your {method} address, with the transaction ID from the chat.
A fiat trade keeps its copy. The method comes from the trade row, and from the book only when the row has none (a restore without a book entry): DOC (Rootstock), USDT (Tron) since #904.
During the end-to-end DOC test of #894 the trade also said "You send the fiat payment" and "Fiat payment marked as sent" for a coin. The buyer's leg of every trade is now "the payment", in all seven locales, like the action already was ("I've sent the payment"). That covers the timeline step, the waiting and payment-sent bodies, the two notification cards and the failure snackbar.
Affected flow
Trade detail (/trade/:id), steps Active and Fiat sent, both sides, and the timeline: lib/features/trades/screens/trade_detail_screen.dart (_body picks the stablecoin copy from stablecoinPegsProvider and the trade's currency). Notifications: the Active and Fiat-sent cards (copy only).
Blast radius
Copy for fiat trades: ten strings drop "fiat" ("You send the payment", "Payment marked as sent", …). Same keys; nothing reads their text.
Localization: three new keys (tradeBodyActiveBuyerStablecoin, tradeBodyActiveSellerStablecoin, tradeBodyFiatSentSellerStablecoin) and ten changed values, all seven locales; flutter gen-l10n output committed in the same commit.
Goldens: three es dark trade-detail goldens show the timeline step without "fiat" (0.04 %, the word only); regenerated by update-goldens.yml.
No Rust, bindings, wire, persisted state or automation identifiers touched. The status filter "Fiat sent" in My Trades is left as is: it names the status.
Design guide: §9 glossary gains payment, network, address and transaction ID (DS-L10N-4). dart tool/design_check.dart: no breaks.
Platforms tested
Linux desktop, release build of b143a454 (Flutter 3.41.9), against a local mostrod (#1083, stablecoins provider on) and Polar regtest. Widget tests on the host.
Manual testing
Setup
Two instances of the release build (Alice, Bob), each with its own identity, on a node that quotes DOC (mostrod with #1083, stablecoins provider on). Polar regtest Lightning: Polar's alice pays the hold invoices and bob issues the payout invoices. The app runs in Spanish (the system locale), so the screenshots show the es copy.
This branch predates #904, so the picker still offered the default methods for DOC; DOC (Rootstock) was added as a custom method, the same text #904 suggests.
Steps
Alice: sell 10 DOC, method DOC (Rootstock). Bob takes it, Alice pays the hold invoice.
Alice (seller), Active. Expected: "Share your DOC (Rootstock) address in the chat above."
Bob (buyer), Active. Expected: "Send it on DOC (Rootstock), to the address they shared in the chat: …paste the transaction ID in the chat…". The timeline's step 3 reads "You send the payment". (On main: "Via DOC (Rootstock), with the details they shared…" and "You send the fiat payment".)
Bob: I've sent the payment. Expected: "Payment marked as sent. Waiting for the seller…"; the notification card reads "Payment marked as sent".
Alice, Fiat sent. Expected: "…Before releasing, check that it reached your DOC (Rootstock) address, with the transaction ID from the chat."
Repeat 2–5 with a USD order. Expected: the fiat copy, minus the word "fiat".
Result
Run by Claude Code on 2026-10-28 with two full trades, both released and settled on Polar: 9622552a (10 DOC, DOC (Rootstock)) and 6bf348d8 (10 USD, Zelle).
The seller's timeline reads "El comprador envía el pago".
Not covered
Step 4's notification card was not opened.
The release confirmation still says "Libera solo si el dinero ya está en tu cuenta" for a coin. That copy is outside this PR and not stablecoin-aware; it conflicts with the new glossary row (a coin reaches an address, not an account).
A layout issue was found that this PR does not cause: at 320 dp, 2× text and German, the step block's header row (step label + "Du bist dran" chip, trade_step_block.dart:81) overflows by 27 px on the Active step, for a fiat trade too. It is left for a separate fix.
Screenshots
Linux release build, dark theme, es. Only the step copy differs from main; the layout is unchanged.
DOC (DOC (Rootstock))
USD (Zelle)
Step 2, Active, seller
Step 3, Active, buyer
Step 4, payment sent, buyer

Step 5, payment sent, seller
Automated tests
test/features/trades/trade_detail_screen_test.dart, group a stablecoin trade names the network and the transaction ID: the buyer's and the seller's Active bodies and the seller's Fiat-sent body for a USDT order; a USD order keeps its copy. Review round 1 added two: the trade row names the method once the order has left the book, and a row restored with an empty method falls back to the book's. The first failed before the fix.
test/l10n/glossary_test.dart: the buyer's leg of a trade is the payment, not fiat, per locale, over the ten keys. Failed in all seven locales before the copy change.
CI on b143a454 (review round 1): green. Locally: flutter analyze no issues; test/features/trades and test/l10n: 369 passed.
Checklist
cd rust && cargo fmt --check && cargo clippy -- -D warnings && cargo test pass locally: no Rust change
dart format --set-exit-if-changed ., flutter analyze and flutter test pass locally: analyze and tests pass (goldens regenerated by update-goldens.yml); the new lines are formatted, while the two test files carry formatter drift already on main

AI assistance
Written with Claude Code from #884 (phase 3) and the end-to-end DOC test of #894. Test first for both changes. The glossary rows were approved by the maintainer before they were written. The translations follow each locale's existing terms (resolver: resolutor, médiateur, Schlichter, mediatore, solver, mediador).
Stablecoin trades now show tailored guidance for buyers and sellers, including the required network, where to find or share a payment address, and how to use the transaction ID. Sellers are reminded to verify receipt before releasing sats.
Improvements
Trade instructions, payment steps, and status messages use more general payment wording instead of fiat-specific terms. Updated copy is available across supported languages, while fiat trades retain their existing tailored instructions.
A coin sent on another network than the one agreed can be lost, and in a
dispute the resolver checks the transfer by its transaction ID. So in a
stablecoin trade (a catalogue entry with a `peg`) the step copy says it:
- active, buyer: send on {method}, to the address the seller shared in
the chat, then paste the transaction ID in the chat;
- active, seller: share your {method} address;
- payment sent, seller: check by that ID that it reached your address
before releasing.
The buyer's leg of every trade is now "the payment", not "fiat": the
timeline step, the waiting and fiat-sent bodies, the two notification
cards and the failure snackbar, in all seven locales. The action already
said "I've sent the payment". Glossary (DS-L10N-4): payment, network,
address and transaction ID.
Three es goldens show the timeline step without "fiat"; they are
regenerated by update-goldens.yml.

Explanation
#884 phase 3 requires the optional stablecoin trade hint in all seven locales. trade_detail_screen.dart classifies the trade from the currency peg, prefers the trade-row payment method, and falls back to the order book. Active buyer and seller copy names the method and network. The buyer copy requests the transaction ID in chat as dispute proof. Fiat-sent seller copy checks the address and transaction ID before release. The three new localized keys are present for all seven locales. Widget tests cover stablecoin buyer, seller, fiat-sent seller, method fallback, and unchanged fiat-trade selection. Phase 1, phase 2, and unrelated #884 work are not required for this phase.
Full details: Out of Scope Changes check
Explanation
The changed trade logic, localized stablecoin strings, generated localization files, glossary and specification updates, widget tests, and Spanish goldens support #884 phase 3. The buyer-leg wording changes from “fiat” to “payment” support the same trade-copy terminology objective across the seven locales. The Cashu and failure-message wording changes apply that terminology consistently. No unrelated Rust, protocol, persisted-state, catalogue, Market-lock, or automation changes are shown.

Explanation
The description follows the repository template closely. It includes the linked issue (#884, phase 3), type (feat), what changes and why, affected flow with file paths, blast radius, platforms tested, a detailed manual testing section with setup, numbered steps, expected results, and actual results, not-covered items, screenshots, automated tests, the checklist, and AI assistance. The manual testing section records a run by Claude Code, and the checklist marks it as pending human confirmation. The Linked issue section names phase 3 of #884 rather than a closing keyword, which the author explains. The remaining gaps are minor: the test-run summary line the checklist asks for is given in prose, not pasted verbatim, and the tests in the Automated tests section are described rather than listed as file-level outcomes for every case.

Make the dispute check conditional on sharing the chat key.
This text says a mediator checks the transaction ID in a dispute. The mediator can read the chat only if a party shares its key, as shareChatKeyBody explains. A buyer who relies on this promise might not share the evidence. Change the source ARB copy in all locales to say the mediator can check the ID when given access, then regenerate the localization files. As per coding guidelines, “never hand-edit or hand-merge lib/src/rust/ or lib/l10n/app_localizations*.dart.”

- The step copy reads the payment method from the trade row first, like
the figures, and the book only when the row has none (a restore without
a book entry). A taken order can leave the book, and the stablecoin copy
then fell back to the generic line.
- The buyer's stablecoin step no longer says a resolver checks the
transaction ID: a resolver reads the chat only if a party shares its key.
The ID is now "your proof in a dispute", in all seven locales and in
spec US6 4a.

On the additional comment in the review (the dispute check, app_localizations_it.dart:2441): applied in b143a45. It was right: a resolver reads the peer chat only if a party shares its chat key (shareChatKeyBody, optional), so "a resolver checks it in a dispute" over-promised. The source ARBs now say the transaction ID is "your proof in a dispute" (es: "es tu prueba en una disputa"), in all seven locales, regenerated with flutter gen-l10n. Spec US6 4a says the same.
