Evo Tree Helper

A new screen which show the evolution tree of your current Digimon, if emulator synchronization is working. The screen shows the current stats of your Digimon as well as the evolution criteria for each evolution and which criteria have been met and which evolution is enabled and what the result will be. The available special evolutions and their criteria are also shown. The latter being displayed in the tooltip of the button.

Digi Wiki

Improvements or additions to the wiki:

  • Expanded the Digi Wiki with combat related topics.
  • The buttons now indicate which chapter is opened

Icons and labels

I've renewed a lot of icons and labels using AI generated images based on the original icons. The new icons have higher resolution and a slight 3d effect to it. They look much nicer. I wanted to keep the typical DW1 feel but just give a modern touch. I've kept the Digimon icons as they are because they feel too characteristic and it would hurt the look if they got revamped I feel.

Installer + delta updates

From now on I'll be releasing an installer. This will install the tool in '%LocalAppData%\DW1Tool', uninstallation happens via the 'installed apps' screen in windows.
When an update becomes available a button, with upward arrow, will show up on top of the main window in the left button section. Pressing this will open a popup where you can choose to update or cancel updating. If the 'yes' button is pressed then the download of the update will start in the background. Once it is downloaded the application will restart and the update is done.

Analogue/Digital clock

The emulator synch now also synchs the time which gets represented by both an analogue and digital clock. Very helpful with the textual representation of the sleep schedule. Now you can see just how much time is left until your Digimon wants to sleep.

Fixes

  • Synchronization breaking after the first cycle.
  • Tamer vision textboxes being editable, they are not read-only
  • Tamer vision would cause a crash if the current Digimon was an ultimate.
  • Tamer vision would cause a crash if the evolution result of the current Digimon was Airdramon and the silhouette option was chosen.

Non US version ROM error

Emulator synchronization only works for the US version ROM so I added an error that notifies the user it this is the case. I've added a retry button for the emulator connection. Press this to reconnect to the configured emulator after switching to a US version ROM.

Fixes

  • Added spacing around the inner border of the music player so it matches the overall style.

Tamer Vision

Analogman is here to help out! He'll provide you with lots of stats on your Digimon and it's evolution result. You finally get to know that all important but hidden away information related to evolution and care taking. No more guessing, you now know!

Fixes

  • Lots of fixes now that I'm able to use copilot. Gotta love it.
  • Rookie evolutions do not cause crashes anymore

Technical

  • Lots of refactoring
  • Generated tests for everything, this helped finding bugs and should help in the future to prevent bugs.

Emulator link

It is now possible to switch between automatic and manual data synching by switching options in the configuration menu. A new label at the top left of the screens shows the current state of the emulator link, it can be disconnected/automatic/manual.

The automatic syncing will sync data every 2 seconds while connection to the emulator is alive. It synchs all data from the textboxes of the evolution calculator as well as the historic evolutions.

Note: It is possible that all historic evolutions get disabled if connection to the emulator is lost during the act of synching. With a refresh rate of 2 seconds I try to hit a sweet spot between up to date info and minimizing the chance this occurs if the emulator is to close down. I believe I can't 100% prevent this from happening. I might tweak or add refresh frequency options in the future.

Fixes

  • Improved the configuration behaviour, honestly, I got so lost in this process I don't actually know the things I fixed. But it should be better now!
  • Resolved a couple of memory leaks with timers. Rx to the rescue!

Technical

  • Some refactoring to make the code better maintainable.

It is now possible to read the memory values from duckstation. This allows the user to sync all the stats and historic evolutions for the evolution calculator.

Comment

I haven't tested any other emulator (e.g. ePSXe) but it might work just find since the tool scans the memory and might be able to find the base address.

Fixes

  • Fixes for the evolution calculator, still had some issues preventing calculation when certain modes in combination with certain digimon were used.

Technical

  • Some refactoring to make the code better maintainable.

  • Fixed Evolution Calculator textboxes width to prevent them from grow as you type in them. This makes for a bit easier on the eyes lay-out but also quite large textboxes. I'd appreciate input on this. 😄
  • Fixed an issue with ultra wide screens which resulted in a broken UI.
  • Added version in the about section.
  • Speech simulation of Jijimon, Shellmon and Giromon now work as intended.

Evolution calculation

  • Vice04 mod + patch support!! Ability to switch calculation models between vanilla and Vicen04 patch/mod.

Thank you OrdemDoGraveto for the tip and Vicen04 for the help and your immense effort on your projects!

  • Fixed evolution criteria for multiple digimon
  • Fixed a bug in the evolution stat carry over used for priority score calculation

Technical

Hey all, Ginoshie here!

It's finally time for this app to be released! I've just checked when I pushed my first commit and 27-12-2022 at 12:05 marked the start of this passion project.

It took me a long time and some pressure from people around me to consider the app to be ready as a 1.0. But here we are. The YouTube comments showed me that this app is, on a content level at least, ready for release.

Two heads ups:

  1. If you run into issues feel free to send me an email or put something on GitHub, granted I've set things up correctly haha. I've yet to find out how all of this works but email will always work.
  2. I've not tested it with many different resolutions and I recall running into some sizing issues at some point. I'm hoping there won't be any of these issues cause they could give me a lot of work to fix. So fingers crossed. 😄

I'm open for suggestions and I still have lots to add but feel free to drop me any suggestions. For instance, OrdemDoGraveto suggested I implement the Vice mod/patch evolutions into the calculator. This might just be the very next thing I work on instead of what I had planned. Again thanks for the great suggestion OrdemDoGraveto! 😄
