This thesis proposed a structured onboarding process and consequently designed and implemented
an interactive tutorial application named “OmniStep", aiming to effectively prepare users for use
of the treadmill National Institute of Mental Health in the Czech Republic (NIMH CZ). To evaluate
its effectiveness, a research study with 12 participants was conducted, utilizing Interpretative
Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). Three key themes emerged from the analysis — adaptation to VR movement;
users’ perceptions of motion speed; and feedback onthe tutorial application’s design. The findings
revealed that while participants initially struggled, they gradually adapted to the treadmill.
Participants agreed that the tutorial application fulfilled its purpose, though more time would
be needed to master the use of the treadmill. The research also identified possible design improvements,
that were incorporated into the final version of the application presented in this thesis.
