The reviewed v1.7.8 distributions passed all 31 automated release validation jobs, but publication stopped at the missing private qualification. Following the owner's explicit authorization to remove that blocker, add a default-false repair waiver bound to v1.7.8 at dce68e1. Preserve the existing v1.7.6 exception and reject crossed inputs, combined waivers, or a moved tag.
Publish the waiver disclosure before PyPI and fail if the release remains a private draft. Protected environment review, signed qualification for ordinary releases, retained-artifact verification, trusted publishing, and exact PyPI file checks remain in place. The exception does not mark unverified full-product gates as passed.
Validation: 121 focused release/documentation tests passed locally; 32 platform-specific tests skipped on Windows and will run where applicable in CI. Ruff and diff checks passed. Regression coverage exercises both allowed candidates, wrong or missing commits, ambiguous inputs, disclosure failures, private drafts, and publication ordering. The v1.7.8 artifact bytes and tag remain unchanged.
Remote validation at
0ff9661f67625fbee9e545ee75b4366be8b46ba1: all 29 checks passed, including Python 3.9-3.14, both CodeQL scans, installed journeys, packaging, encryption, 171 browser tests, and the full 6,665-test suite (20 documented skips; 1 known warning). Coverage is 85.60%. Linux executed the Bash qualification regressions. No unresolved review threads.
