[BUG] Cannot push tags to protected branch

Pushing to protected branches (i.e. main, develop) causes release job to error.

To Reproduce

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

• Run the CI/CD and trigger a release run (i.e., a merged PR to develop)

Expected behavior

• Release job should succeed, tags should be pushed, and change log changes should be pushed
