Empty Consumer Groups does not load and runs into timeout inside topics section

I have enabled the

"topic:
consumer-groups-default-view: HIDE_EMPTY"
config because I have loads of consumer groups and home page was not loading and neither was the Consumer Groups tab. But, when I go inside a Topic > Consumer Groups and then try to view the Empty Consumer Groups explicitly, it still keeps on loading forever. Does this mean, when I try to view empty consumer group from inside the Topics page, it tries to get it for all topics instead. Help me out here to understand the problem a bit better.
