Expand space available?

I was the middle of compiling an application on the kindle when it said it ran out of storage despite having ~5gb of free space on the kindle filesystem. Is there any way to expand the space available to alpine when it is running?

Enlarging the .ext3 filesystem with resize2fs causes alpine to no longer boot

dd if=/dev/zero bs=1m count=14336 >> alpine.ext3, Worked for me, But im on mac
