when setting Content in Panel/Drawable, how to stop the controls from being redrawn and reloaded again?

I have a custom expander (inherited from Drawable) that will set its content null or expanded control.

                expandedControlsPanel.Content = _expanded ? expandedControls : null;  //expandedControls is a field

I found out that everytime the expander set a content, even though the expandedControls is a field, all the controls saved in expandedControls will be redrawn, reload and reinitiated again, which takes up a lot of resources.

Is this the way it supposed to work? is there a way to skip all the redrawn/reload/reinitiated part?

Perhaps try setting expandedControls.Visible to false instead of removing them? There's no way to skip the load/init/unload/etc events. They will still have to be redrawn when set as visible, however.
