Infinite Crate v0.1.0 Released

We're excited to announce "The Infinite Crate," a new VST/AU plugin that lets you play with Lyria RealTime directly inside your favorite DAW! 🎧🎶

Explore new sounds by blending and merging genres, moods, instruments, or anything you can think of. Sample the stream of music to spark your own inspiration or help you get past a creative block.

The Infinite Crate is cross-platform, supporting Mac VST/AU, Windows VST, and a Mac Standalone application (no VST host required). It is built on the Lyria RealTime API and thus requires an internet connection and API key (usage is free).

Very cool! Is Infinite Crate open source? I noticed that daw sync matches the tempo, but it doesn't appear to start/stop the internal sequencer of the Infinite Crate. Would love to help with that if possible.

Hey! We haven't yet sync'd transport to the DAW, it's a great idea and the feature is in the backlog. The current models don't fully align to the tempo/grid, but syncing transport should not be too hard. The team hasn't made a decision on open source yet, I can keep you posted if we do :)

I have moderate experience with C++, React, and TypeScript, and can fill in the gaps quickly on unfamiliar topics. I'm currently working as a data engineer in a role that involves a lot of software engineering, and I have an academic background in AI/ML.

Hello everyone,
I found this very interesting and have downloaded everything from the magenta page.
Also created a valid API key.
I use a MacBook Pro with the last Intel Core that runs macOS 14.
If I scan the plugins in Ableton either the vst3 or the component will show up.
Also the standalone version doesn’t work unfortunately.
Anyone have an idea?
Is there any other workflow?

Hmm, I think it could be one of two things:

1. Your security and privacy permissions are set too strictly to allow for apps distributed out of the App Store. Is that something you can try looking into?
2. Your OS or architecture is somehow not supported

I was not able to test on all OS versions and architectures for the alpha release

We are hoping to open source the plugin to allow developers to help address this, as this is not a primary product surface for Google, but that is not certain yet

I wondered if Infinite Crate was originally developed only for Apple Silicon in the first place? That would be an answer.

I had tested it on an older Intel Mac (trashcan Mac Pro, running MacOS 12.6), but have not tested on others. There may be some missing steps in compilation for newer OS's

Hi, Not very familiar with API keys so when I installed the Windows version and went to install my key, I installed the wrong info. The vst won't run in Ableton, hitting play tells me I need to install a valid key but I can't figure out how to do that. I deleted the vst3 and reinstalled but the plugin didn't ask for the Key this time so I'm stuck, Any thoughts on how to enter the correct API key?

App Data (eg. API key) is saved system wide, while plugin data (prompt and parameter values) is saved along with the project per plugin instance.

To delete App Data, delete the following files:

Mac: rm ~/Library/Application\ Support/Magenta/The\ Infinite\ Crate/The\ Infinite\ Crate.settings

Windows: rm C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\Magenta\The Infinite Crate\
