CMakeLists.txt version referencing and configuration is no longer supported by CMake.

CMakeLists.txt is configurend and writen for CMake v3.0
Current CMake version (4.0.2 as of date) no longer supports CMake versions from before v3.5

Workaround: us an older version of CMake

Last edit on opengl-tutorials is 7 years old. Looks like opengl-tutorials is dead?

I used cmake 4.1.1 in my MacOS machine, and configuration fails.
Using legacy version 3.31.9 works as a workaround.

Looking those opened issues, I don't think there's active maintaining.
Even pull requests are not merged or reviewed.

I've been doing some workaround to make this project work with MacOS.
While doing that, I ported the project to work with cmake 4 and later, by updating the dependency which uses a deprecated property.

I tested it with Visual Studio in Windows 10 with the latest cmake(4.1.2) and it worked well.

I'm planning to open a PR to merge my fix into the original project, but not sure if there's any active contributors to merge.
