New frontend based on Vue JS

News is getting a major rewrite of the frontend based one Vue JS.

Since it is a rebuild it behaves differently and so far not all features or requests from people have been implemented.

non-compact mode was problematic due to using the virtual scroll... that will likely take a lot of rework to make it work like the old UI

I'll live, it is already very nice that we have a new frontend. It even feels faster.

In my opinion the whole structure should eventually use a three pane layout used by other nextcloud apps. This should be achieved using the Nextcloud Vue components. I may start looking into it when I have some free time now that the basic vue conversion is done.. 😊

I would actually suggest moving away from the three-pane layout. I fell, this article points out some great reasons against it and also produces some ideas about different approaches
