Describe the Issue

Unable to completely delete the project folder.

Steps To Reproduce

1.Create a C# Console App.
2.In Explorer, right-click the project folder->Delete-> Always choose to delete when some prompts appear.

Expected Behavior

The project folder can be completely deleted.

There is another issue here: we lost the 'remove project' option, which means we cannot just remove it from the Explorer view, but instead it gets deleted directly from its original location on the disk. In fact, there is a demand from users to remove it only from the VSCode view while keeping it on the disk.

@Jxwoon Saw that you grabbed this one, is this a VS Code issue?

@claudiaregio I’ve assigned this to myself to investigate. My assumption is that VS Code isn’t able to fully delete the folder because it contains a .csproj that’s currently in use by the solution file created for workspace dev mode. This isn’t a blocking issue—if the user attempts to delete the folder again, it is removed successfully.

As for the second point about wanting to “remove” a project from the Explorer view while keeping it on disk, that isn’t something we currently have control over.

@Jxwoon ah ok thanks for the extra info, that makes sense. Are you ok with me pulling this into April sprint to fix by stable release? (April 22 per code freeze date)

@ArabellaQi @Jxwoon Going to keep this issue open to make sure users can delete from the Explorer, but allowing users to remove from Explorer view but not disk is not planned.

@claudiaregio I verified the bug on three machines. On one machine, the project folder was completely deleted, while on the other two, it was not completely deleted. (C# Dev Kit Extension  v3.14.196 & C# Extension  v2.136.19 )
