I have 2 playlists with overlapping channels. I have merged them in a custom playlist. But for example, I want those channels only merged on a group basis in the custom playlist.

The same options for merging channels on a custom playlist. Group, whole playlist, and so on.
Describe alternatives you've considered
Merging them before putting them into the custom playlist, but you can only select a group for one playlist, and it gets merged to the complete other playlist and not only a specified group.
Additional context
Maybe, just maybe, change the overall layout to the same as a normal playlist would have. Somehow? ... 😏
