TLP is a feature-rich Linux utility designed to save laptop battery power without the need to delve into technical details. Rest easy after installation knowing that TLP's default settings are already optimized for battery life.
Settings are organized into three profiles: performance, balanced and power-saver. Profiles switch automatically depending on AC and battery operation, enabling you to adjust between saving energy and performance independently. The newly introduced tlp-pd enables manual profile switching with a mouse click and completely replaces power-profiles-daemon.
But wait, there's more! TLP is completely customizable to suit your unique needs, so you can achieve even greater power savings or meet your exact requirements – the possibilities are endless.
Last but not least, TLP provides a unified approach to battery charge thresholds for ThinkPads and many other supported laptops.
