Does it work with Claude desktop app?

Great idea! I'm tired of reading. Is there a way to get this to work on the claude desktop app?

It works in the Claude desktop app, but only in the Claude Code tab, not in the Chat or Cowork tabs (3pd party plugins are not supported there) Install steps are in the README, see the "using Claude desktop app" comment.

If you just want a response read out loud, Claude (desktop app) now has a built-in Read aloud button in the app, you can see it at the bottom of every response, click it on a finished response and it reads the whole thing, verbatim. Manual each time, zero setup.

Audio Recap is the hands-free version: once it's on, it narrates each turn on its own - a one-sentence recap plus a shortened reply - so you can step away instead of pressing play each time. It does that by calling the claude CLI under the hood, so if you're in the desktop app you'll also need the Claude Code CLI installed additionally.

If you give it a try I'd love to hear how it goes.

Playing around with it this morning and I love it. Way more concise than what claude reads out. This is the key. I dont want to read the thought streams or listen to them. Just give me a summary of what you did. This is what this does. Great job!!!

One thought I'm having though is that I have multiple claude code sessions running at any given time (2 minimum, and sometimes up to four). Wondering if there's a way to make it so it perhaps doesn't announce the full message until I click into that session (I use the claude desktop app)? But perhaps announces when a session is ready for review.

So say I'm in my Marketing session, and I send it off to do something. I switch over to my Product session to continue working. The voice pings me to let me know Marketing is ready, and only when I switch to the marketing session would it then give me the summary.

I know it's probably not possible, but would be cool; and wondering if you've found a flow that works best for this?

Either way, this plugin is staying on.

Btw, I found that Siri 1 voice is really great—none of the other ones did it for me. Reads really natural!

Thanks, good to hear - "just tell me what you did, not the whole thought stream" is the whole reason I made it.

Glad you found a voice you like - that makes a big difference. (Jamie (Premium) has been mine if you want another to try.)

The multiple-sessions thing is real, and it's one of the things I want to do next. Right now each session narrates on its own, so when two finish around the same time they talk over each other. What I'd do first is make them take turns: the announcements queue and play one at a time, each tagged so you can tell which session it's from, so you'd hear "marketing - " then "product - " instead of both at once. That alone should make several sessions actually followable.

The fuller version you describe - stay quiet until I switch into a session, then read it - is harder. The plugin only gets woken when a turn finishes, not when you switch sessions, so there's no clean signal for "read it when I look" without a background process watching what's in front, which I've deliberately kept out to keep this simple. So I'd start with the take-turns step and see how far it gets you.

One question that'd help: would that cover most of it, or is hearing all of them - even one at a time - still more than you want for the sessions you're not actively in?
