Strategic Update: The Future of the JS Framework Benchmark #1996

Description

@krausest

It seems like interest in the js-framework-benchmark peaked back in the "good old days," when we were still excited about every new framework, happily wrestled with TypeScript imports, and truly believed that we developers ruled the world.

To address this, we recently held a strategy meeting. After several rounds of brainstorming and "design thinking" sessions—and certainly more than just one bottle of wine—we emerged with a sensational insight: AI is exactly what the js-framework-benchmark needs.

  1. Separate "AI-ready" frameworks and retire the old keyed/non-keyed distinction.
The distinction between keyed and non-keyed implementations is so technical that it only serves to distract the AI developers of the future. Being "AI-ready" is simply more important. A framework is considered AI-ready if its name or description contains the term "AI" (substrings within other words do not count; for example, "maintainer" does not count as having "AI" in it). Angular is clearly AI-ready (thanks to its "AI-forward resources and integrations to supercharge your development"), while React, once again, fails to impress.

  2. Integrate AI into the results table for deeper insights.
This was the standout idea of the meeting. Just ask the AI to uncover the insights you weren't able to grasp before. We have implemented this using a "Bring Your Own Key" model to ensure Digital Sovereignty (i.e., the ability to run Chinese LLMs on servers located in the US).

  1. Professional vs. Community Edition
The addition of AI features easily justifies the launch of a Professional Subscription, which will go live in June. The Community Edition will remain available but will have minor limitations; for example, accuracy will be capped at 10ms. Pricing for the Professional Edition will be announced soon. (It is currently being calculated by six concurrent AI pricing agents, but they are apparently running a bit slow due to heavy traffic from 1Password, Microsoft, and Atlassian.)

Happy April 1st,

Stefan
