[Bug] Device not syncing when other is offline

I often write on one device (laptop), close the device and open obsidian on other device later to review / revisit. In this case two devices are rarely online at same time.

devices sync fine when all are online simultaneously. However, I'm facing issues in my regular workflow - I do not find files/ last edits when I open the mobile after closing the laptop. (In many cases I'll create a new file and then close first device)

Is YAOS sync designed to work in these cases? Is last sync time visible somewhere? e.g. pushed changes : timestamp / fetched changes : timestamp so that I can be sure my changes are synced online and will be available on other device.

What you did

1. Close obsidian on a mobile device.
2. Open Obsidian on a PC/laptop and create a file with some content.
3. Close Obsidian on the PC
4. Open Obsidian on mobile and wait for sync (At this stage I'm clueless what happened, if sync passed/failed - no Idea)

Interesting, I had noted another issue around the same usecase. I'm keeping this a high priority thread.

This usecase (YAOS syncing without all devices on) is most definitely supported. It's the main offering, actually.

Is last sync time visible somewhere?

Not right now, because sync is supposed to immediate, but I've been exploring making the connectivity and onboarding semantics better. Probably will add this.

I'll look into this pretty soon, could you try to reproduce this error, and send over some logs, please?

YAOS has a Export sync diagnostics command in Obsidian's command menu. This command makes a snapshot of the current state of YAOS's internal workings. It doesn't include any device telemetry or file contents.

I have a decent idea on this exact failure mode, but to make sure I get this right, could you try to take a few of these snapshots (by running that command) - once before, once during and once after the issue happens.

I'm sharing multiple diagnostics.

1. Open obsidian, create multiple files, wait for few seconds and then export the diagnostics. Quit the app.
2. Open app on phone, wait for some time (does not sync), export logs, close the app.
3. Open the app again on laptop, wait for some time and export log, keep it open
4. Open app on mobile, export the log, keep it open
5. Export log on laptop again.

Could not figure out my accounts there - here's gist of exports I've created

I can open my phone / tab before closing the device - this will ensure my devices are synced avoiding this issue meanwhile. However, a green dot below suggesting there are no pending actions (to be pushed/pulled) on this device will be peace of mind that this device has synced its state with cloud (state in cloud matches local state) and I can safely close the app.

Getting the same here. Obsidian with YAOS on mac and Android tablet, sync seems to happen only when both online. Update: not only this but, having both devices online, syncs take around 10 minutes.
